  • Comments Thread For: Tank Davis Makes Weight; Vasiliy Lomachenko Next?

Gervonta Davis made a point Friday, weighing in nearly two pounds under the lightweight limit for Saturday's title defense against Frank Martin - a prelude to a bigger potential matchup with Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Davis looks to be in the best shape of his career, though not sure why Frank Martin looked so gaunt (can literally see the shape of his skull) in the ceremonial weigh in.

Might be time to move up or is it just a bad weight cut?

IDK why Tank came in way inside 135, but I would guess it is making an offer to Lomachenko. Which is a bit presumptuous because he has to beat Martin, who isn't exactly a bum by any means. I guess he is so super confident that he figures he can do that. I think it shows how much Gervonta really respects Lomachenko. He knows Lomachenko is nailed-on an ATG & he really wants him on his record in the hope that he too, some day, will deserve ATG.

Franks going to big on the night, its a fine line if he on the button its a big advantage, Tank looks like he could fight lighter although he doesn't rip up like some others, a bit like Benavidez having a soft look.

Well we see tomorrow I suppose, though I had read that Davis's team pointed out that they had postponed the actual weigh in because Martin was quite struggling to get down to 135 in a few attempts, it is a possibility that it isn't intentional advantage by Martin.

Also about Gervonta and David's physique I agree, they both tend to bloat up in water weight instead of bulking up in muscle mass, then after cutting down shown at the weigh-in, you see the muscle definition despite excessive skin getting in the way. Specially David considering he was obese as a child and just moved up.

I suppose it is easier that way to cut down in weight. Bam Rodriguez also does it.

Frank naturally carries a lot of muscle. But he's too small for 140.

Tank could definitely still make a 130lbs if he wanted to but obviously theres not really any fights there. But he comfortably makes 135lbs it seems so can't see him going up to 140lbs again anytime soon for fights up there. Think if he beats tank then it's Loma afterwards in a unification and then possibly shakur for three belts at 135 if shakur don't move up beforehand

Martin is a pretty good fighter got some athletic gifts that are big assets to him but I think he gets dropped and stopped late here I think he'll come out and start well then as the fight goes on tank will start to time him and find the punches to get him out of there. But he is no bum he's a undefeated top 5 contender at 135lbs for a reason

Can a Tank Davis vs Loma fight actually be negotiated??

                    I'm skeptical.
