  • Comments Thread For: Reported Saudi Arabia Concept Could Cure Many Boxing Ills

A report that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund has initiated exploratory conversations with boxing promoters to consolidate fights under a primary banner could allow for the next step in what the nation has already done in staging some of the biggest bouts of the past year.

Simple solutions, Best vs Best. That's what people want to see. Why do many people watch the Super Bowl and the World Cup Final? Best vs Best.

If they're going to have a league or some sort of major re-structuring of the sport, can't they find a way to squeeze the sanctioning body parasites out of the picture finally?
I don't know how they do it but smarter people than me should be able to figure something out.

This is a great plan, despite the fact it’s the Saudis sportswashing.

If it consistently gives us the best fighting the best, every weekend or other weekend, that should help elevate the sport. That is all I want as a diehard fan.

The end of the great American Boxing fraud-racket is upon us.

          Thank God.

Multiple losses soon for Haney, Tank and others. Their obviously stage managed bulls hit careers are about to be laid bare.

No look hook Slip jab likes this.

The saudis dont care if they profit or not. It allows them to out pay anyone else. That is similar to the early DAZN days blowing through venture capital funds.

That is great in the short term but the problem is its not sustainable and all promoters cannot do this which means not everyone can get saudi money and you will get fighters who didnt get on saudi cards waiting it out until they get picked.

dont get me wrong i know its been great the last 2 years but we seen this before with DAZN. If the prince looses interest in boxing at any time or if something happens like a war ect that diverts their attention and the Saudi fights stop then boxers are going to be out pricing themselves like after DAZN had to start trying to be profitable.

It’s all part of the new world order, good fights to be made, but it is what it is

One religion, one government, hive mind, coexist

I fooking hope so. Just needs to not all be ppv. no way will boxing being behind a pay wall help grow the sport. but, boxers have done this to themselves for the most part, along with promoters. so all I care about is the big fights happening consistently. that should be the way and that is the only way to show the true skills of the guys who never get their shot. if big fights happen all time there will be great fighters coming up that we probably wouldn't have seen.

I do not think boxing will ever grow if every decent fight is behind a pay wall. They really need to create something for new/up and coming guys like FnF or USA used to do. I remember watching Pacman back when he was on FnF.

                    This.
Maybe it's a necessary evil for the good of the sport, but it doesn't feel right.
