Mike Tyson "No one could beat Muhammad Ali"

Yesterday on TV, Mike Tyson made a dramatic impact on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Tyson went on the TV program and really got deep on many subjects with Oprah and her TV audience. It truly made for great TV.

One of the many topics that Tyson discussed on the TV program was how after his mother died when he was 16, legendary trainer Cus D'Amato, who was already training Tyson, became his guardian as well as one of his biggest influences.

D'Amato really took Tyson under his wing at a time a young Tyson needed it most. Tyson told the TV audience, "He (D'Amato) was from a bad neighborhood. He was a street kid like me. Then, one day, he just said, 'Listen, you have the chance to change your life, your family's life." D'Amato was straight up with Tyson and laid it all on the line. Tyson went on to say: "He said, 'You do what I tell you to do, and if it doesn't work, then you can leave."

Tyson discussed how he and his mentor D'Amato would watch classic boxing matches everyday for years. "We'd watch all the great fighters," stated Tyson, adding: "I would ask him, 'How do you beat them?'" D'Amato who was certainly a man of great wisdom had a formula on how to beat any fighter except for one.... the great Muhammad Ali.

Tyson told Oprah's TV audience: "No one could beat Muhammad Ali, he (D'Amato) thought." Tyson added: "I agree with him." http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Benz/DHBenz1013b09.htm

Cus must was referring to what he thought before Ali lost, because by the time they had that conversation Ali had already lost more than once.

Of course. When you look at footage you are going to look at someone when they are at their best. Only posters discuss how to beat someone when they are past their prime and shot as if it is the same.

That is funny and inaccurate, because I have a video where he openly discusses how beatable ALI was. In fact he and Ali on the video together where he openly told ali face to face the style to beat him, and then he and Ali slap boxed each other...Cus and ali slapp boxed each other.

Did you watch the interview? If you didn't then you can't confirm it's accuracy, and if it's true it would be contradicting.

Tyson has a good style to beat Ali, but I see him getting worn down with jabs and crosses, while he tired to get inside and kept off balance with lateral movement.

You are referring to the film "AKA Cassius Clay" starring Muhammad Ali and Cus D'mato, where Cus and Ali were clowning back and forth. At that time I think Cus may have been a little bitter since Ali recently put an end to one of Cus' greatest students Floyd Paterson, Yet in countless interviews over the years, Cus did acknowledge Ali as the greatest fighter he had ever seen.

That's funny cus in this interview Ali says to Tyson's face that "I'm scared of him" and when asked who would win if you two fought? Ali responds that if Tyson hit him... *he mimicks being knocked out* i.e. Ali is saying Tyson would knock him out.
