Reynoso thinks he’s slick. We all know he’s the one who accepts and declines Canelo’s opponents based on level of risk. So he’s the main reason why canelo vs benavidez isn’t happening. So he helped set this up because he’s hoping to derail Benavidez with the sole intent of protecting canelo. Damn I miss when Mexican boxing was about fighting the best instead of cowardly risk management.

Classy comments from Benavidez. Fine sportsman. This is the right way to build up a fight. I think Benavidez should be the favorite, but Gvozdyk was a very good fighter, and may still have a lot in the tank. A break and then three fights might be exactly what he needed.

These fights are at least sellable. I do not think either will be that competitive, but they are sellable.

I mean that’s good, you can’t ever underestimate any fighter due to their age, recent losses, win-loss record, lack of power, or weak resume. If he sees him as a dangerous fighter, then he’ll beat him like he’s expected to beat him. Which by beating him up and earning a stoppage.

But he is 37 and hasn’t fought any one of note in 5 years, plus he retired in between. So while Benavidez shouldn’t underestimate him like us fans do, he’s the one getting in the ring with him and he has to get him out of there like we all think he will.
