Before YouTube made money selling Boxing Tapes HBO showtime and all shows from Europe and canal plus was great another boxing channel in France the good old days but when *******s came in 2000 changed the game forever and now IPTV
we had hbo and espn. i would record the fights on vhs. we didnt buy ppv's, watched the fights the week after and actually i would avoid looking up the results and it would be like watching it live, except sometimes i could tell from the replay length if it was going to go less than 12 rounds.
boxrec and the forums i pretty much always had growing up. initially we were on dial up, took some time until people started uploading fights online. there were clubs you could trade vhs or dvd's or buy dvds but i never got involved with those much.
Borec is great for results but their rating system for fights and fightters is sketchy - for example 2 fighters with a 20-4 record might be both 3* fighters but the context and timing of fights and wins is critical and boxrec doesn't give u that -
