Comments Thread For: Paulie Malignaggi: Has Deontay Wilder 'Checked Out' of Boxing?

The future of Deontay Wilder is unclear after he suffered a stunning defeat to Zhilei Zhang. Will he retire? Will he ever fight Anthony Joshua? How significant was Wilder's career?

Wilder checked out from boxing when he started doing those crazy dancing spins against the plunger in his training. Malik Scott is one wild trainer.

I don't think that Wilder checked out so much as he just doesn't have it anymore. He's incapable of pulling the trigger. It would be wise of him to call it a day before he takes any more damage to his brain and body.

Imagine a lame buster like a Paulie Malignaggi saying someone didn't have any killer instinct, when he was out there slanging bb's his whole career.

Don't you think Paulie would have KO'd all his opponents if he had the physical ability to do so? He went pretty far as a pro boxer given the power (or lack thereof) that he was granted by the creator.
          Just sayin'.......

For a guy that was feather-fisted, Paulie had a great career. He had heart even in gallant losses. I’ll take Paulie’s career over Wilder any day of the week and twice on Saturday night.
Wilder is not only coming up short in his losses but he gets destroyed.

no one is going to pay him to fight lower ranked guys anymore so he has no choice, take the cash and now take the L as well, hes finished after fury fights, too old unmotivated & doesnt have the style to adapt

A fighter that relies on one single punch and is completely gun shy is a fighter that should simply retire

Dubois vs. Anderson would be attractive. I think Joseph Parker would be too experienced for Dubois.

The Fury/Wilder trilogy took a lot out of both guys. Both have lost punch resistance. Wilder's confidence is shot. Time to pack it in!
