What is the longest time between rematches?

With Jones-Hopkins 2 coming 16 years after the first fight, I'm wondering if that will be the longest time between a first fight and a rematch?

Looking for some of our boxing historians to answer this one.

    Hearns-Leonard a shade less then 8 years

    Leonard-Duran (between 2 and 3) more then 9 years

Those are the longest I can think of

Okay I just found this, Jeff Fenech and Azumah Nelson were 16 years apart from their second to third fight.

By the time Roy and Hopkins fight it will be nearly 17 years since their first fight! Wow.

That is right, I forgot about that one. That is amazing though.

Larry Holmes first fought Mike Weaver in 1979, then fought him again in 2000. He fought James 'Bonecrusher' Smith in 1984 and 1999.

Wow 21 years! That's incredible but only shows that both fought on for too long.

This will probably be the biggest gap where both fights are somewhat significant.

Fight will never be signed. Zilla is a diva and wants 65-35 minimum. Kong can stay on Skull Island and promote his own PPVs while still fighting top monsters. Meanwhile Zilla will scam the public and take catchweight fights with smaller monsters that have no shot of beating him. Disgraceful.

And just remember when you start talking about monsters needing to grow a pair.....

No one mentioned it but it made a few waves two years ago. Hill-Maske 2, 10 years after the original. Or Fenech-Nelson 3, 16 years after the 2nd fight and 17 years after the original.

                    Edit: dans pointed out Fenech-Nelson.
