I remember watching him and Usyk and having high hopes for him after that fight. I thought he would grow from it. He's a great boxer but I think Usyk snatched his soul.

Yeah, he lost a 10 round decision to Artem Suslenkov at an IBA event in Kazakhstan last month. Apparently, Boxrec.com(an official recordkeeper...used to be FightFax but that's another story) has a feud with the IBA(which used to be the worldwide recognized body for amateur/Olympic boxing until a year ago). The International Olympic Committee de-listed the IBA as the responsible party for Olympic-organized boxing due to ongoing corruption/compliance issues. I watched the fight on youtube, it was a close fight. Hunter wasn't in that great of a shape and Suslenkov mauled and held Hunter quite a bit. Hunter's defense wasn't as good as it used to be, he took some heavy shots and Suslenkov was in superb shape...I think he's Russia's military heavyweight champion. The IBA organizes professional fights as well as amateur ones still. IBA also organized the defunct World Series of Boxing circuit that run from 2010-2018. Oleksandr Usyk and Agit Kabayel both took part in the WSB circuit. They usually allowed boxers to maintain their amateur/Olympic status, but no headgear was worn. Boxrec.com doesn't count these fights either...Usyk went undefeated in the WSB, whilst Kabayel notched 2 losses among his various wins. Boxers in the WSB also got paid. I don't know why Boxrec.com doesn't count those fights. Anyways, the Hunter-Chaney fight is supposedly for the interim WBA heavyweight title. Mahmoud Charr holds the regular belt, but had his defense against Kubrat Pulev postponed to September due to an injury to Charr. Who knows if the winner of the Hunter-Chaney fight will be the mandatory to either Charr or Usyk. And the US and other countries have formed their own international organization to replace the IBA. If no organization is formed in time, there will be no Olympic boxing in 2028 at the Los Angeles Olympics. Book is finished, there will be a quiz on all of this on Tuesday.
