Here is a guy whose expectation of what he could achieve were near 0 when it came to the heavyweight division, so whatever he did accomplish even if it were just winning a single belt or beating a single top contender it would be touted as a big win for someone like him. He punched above his weight figuratively and literally, unifying and becoming undisputed cruiserweight champ already put him in the annals of boxing history among the greats, but moving to heavyweight and defeating AJ twice and then Fury, unifying all the belts, and becoming the first undisputed champ in over 2 decades has shot him up into the stratosphere. He quite literally has nothing else to prove, no other belts to get, no other serious top contender to beat, he has done it all.


At 37, Usyk is certainly not unbeatable, and with every following fight that he should have he increase his chances of losing exponentially, but money talks, and it's hard to turn down 50+ million dollars for a 48 minute fight. However, money won't substitute greatness. If Usyk retires now, undefeated, undisputed, and sets off into the sunset with all of the accolades that he has achieved he will go down as one of the biggest legends in boxing lore.

He can go out on top and no one would think any less of him. He needs to fight legacy worthy opponents for as long as he remains active. No tune ups or money grabs. Either rematch Fury or fight Parker next.

The longer Usyk fights the more he risks losing to a subpar fighter like a Whyte or Zhang. He almost lost to Dubois had that punch been an inch higher and the ref decided to call it a legitimate shot.

If a subpar fighter beats Usyk, then his career will be tarnished by a nobody and the quality of his opponents that he did defeat will be called into question.

I agree that Usyk is vulnerable and each following fight he risks losing to much inferior fighters than Fury and AJ. With that being said, I'd like to know where you buy your drugs if you think Fury was kicking his ass and the ref needed to step in.

Even if he goes on to lose at some point, he is undisputed at two weight classes so he is already a legend.

I enjoy watching him but he's had a long career with am and pro so if he calls it quits soon fairplay but I'd be surprised if the fury rematch doesn't happen.
