Comments Thread For: Exemplary Usyk An 'Icon' For Those Suffering In Ukraine

Oleksandr Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk described the sense of escapism his winning the undisputed heavyweight title will have delivered to those in Ukraine who remain under siege. It is more than two years since Vladimir ***** ordered the Russian army to invade their neighbouring country, contributing to tens of thousands of deaths and forcing countless others to repeatedly fight for their lives.

He’s a glowing example to any fighter too. His ability to fight through adversity is incredible. He’s generally the away fighter, in the away corner with the odds stacked against him, he’s also quite regularly been the smaller guy with physical disadvantages and he finds a way to win every single time.

That fight was slipping away from him last night after 6 rounds and he fought through the fire and snatched it straight back. As great as Usyk is technically, he also has supreme mental fortitude, that’s a big reason why he’s able to beat these guys who have so many physical advantages over him.

Usyk is definitely an exemplary fighter, and role model. This guy's will to win is incredible, he appears to have no boundaries when it comes to boxing/fighting!

Usyk conducts himself like a Champion inside and outside of the ring. He's a proper gentleman warrior and worthy of respect.

Don't mix boxing with the civil war in Russia. Loved the ring entrance by Ustiff. Looked like a real Russian soilder. Russia gets round one. Round 2 in October

It's hard to beat a Russian, they never give up just like the Cruiserweight fight before the main event. Great Russian fight night. Still think the Brit gets the rematch

This post literally proves that the Ukrainian bias played a role in Usyk victory. It’s actually embarrassing unreal how politics have infiltrated sports and have forced billions of us who don’t give a living **** about Ukraine are forced to accept them into our lives and worship the ground they stand on.
