Comments Thread For: Berinchyk Stuns Navarrete by Split Decision, Captures WBO Lightweight Belt

SAN DIEGO - Ukraine's fighting spirit carried Saturday in boxing, as lightweight Denys Berinchyk joined his heavyweight countryman Oleksandr Usyk with a heartfelt split decision title victory. Berinchyk's win came over Mexico's three-division titleholder Emanuel Navarrete, who showed up bloated and lacking, delivering an uninspiring performance against the more aggressive foe.

Navarette sucks. Was a weight bully at 126 and 130.. looks really bad at 135.

My boy Navarette had a terrible night. Low punch output. Didn’t look aggressive. Like he didn’t care. Looked completely opposite from his 10 year run of dominance.

Hopefully he can comeback. I was glad that he admitted he needed to fix things.

10 year run? He became a world champion in 2019. He had a good run between 2019 and 2022 and has looked average ever since he left 126.

I have yet to watch the fight to see how he looked exactly but I know he had a poor performance against Conceicao as well and probably should have lost. That's 3 underwhelming showings for him out of his last 4 if we count the Wilson fight and not exactly against elite opposition.

He really was expected to beat Berinchyk to set up a unification fight against Loma. On current form and especially at lightweight, his days as a top contender are over.

He has been winning consistently for the last 10 years.

We disagree about Conseaico. I thought he looked fine. Not every performance can be dynamic.

I thought he was going to easily dominate Denis. I figured heād outwork him and maybe stop him late.

I also thought Fury would be too big.

Dunn had a bad weekend picking fights lol.

Navarette probably goes back to 130 to defend. This performance at 135 does not suggest he will be a champion given the other belt holders are much better than Denis imo.

It is just one fight. I am not writing him off yet.

Navarrete looked horrible. He should return to 130, but stay away from Shock Foster. Foster would knock his block off like Valdez knocked Berchelt's off.

This is huge upset. This remained in shadows of Usyk Fury

Damn. Cruz can't choke Navarrete out now.

A good run starts when you start fighting ranked fighters, otherwise almost all fighters go on good runs at some point in their careers.

He lost 7-8 rounds against Conceicao and looked lethargic for most of the fight.

More discipline and back to 130 is indeed the way to go for him.

Navarette ****** this one up. He could have done so much more in his career with more discpline. He looked like garbage.
