Yeah, Bellew did show you can have some success if you fight on the outside vs Usyk. Realistically though Bellew was about Euro level, fringe world level at best, so he was never gonna keep his game plan going, he has having to work flat out just to implement the plan and started getting tired.
It was a nice idea from Bellew, it was actually a pretty smart approach but the reality is he was a C level boxer that was already flattened at 175. Not to mention bellew then killed himself to get back to 199lbs after the Haye fight. So he was never gonna have the stamina to keep it up, even if he was good enough, which he's not
it was really Bellew's best hope. He knew not to box at mid range with Usyk, it would be easy work. Neither of them can fight inside , so that wasn't ever happening. The best bet was keep it long and see if he could catch him with something, he just wasn't on that level so can't maintain it.
