Comments Thread For: Steve Cunningham: Former Foe Tyson Fury Could Be Up To Old Tricks Against Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury will face Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday in a crowning of the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis more than 25 years ago. Usyk has the chance to etch his name in the history books and become a two-weight undisputed champion, after he achieved the honor at cruiserweight in 2018. Fury may be fighting for undisputed for the first time, but this is not his first encounter with a former cruiserweight champion. The WBC titlist made his U.S. debut against former IBF beltholder Steve Cunningham back in 2013 - and was given the fight of his life.

Don't be surprised if Usyk knocks Fury down once.

I would have to say that I agree with Cunningham. It doesn't matter how tall Fury is or his reach advantage. I still cannot see him outboxing Oleksander from the outside.

Usyk is just too fundamentally sound for Tyson in order to allow that to happen. The referee would be a major factor and have to play a very significant role in determining the outcome of this fight.

Fury is going to have to turn this into a very physical fight in order to wear Oleksandr down to win.

If he can't. Then he is not going to win.

Fury has always been a mauler. He stinks at range, but he has reach, so he's not getting boxed. Then he twitches making him hard to find. I don't think Usyk can keep Fury from riding him, win or lose. I think fat Fury might be better inside, I dont know what he's thinking. Hollywood?

Cunningham assessment is pretty good, but don’t compare yourself 10 years ago to Usyk at no point. Fury has developed in the 10 years since and Usyk showed signs of a weakness to body shots in his last fight which many seem to be sleeping on. Usyk did such an acting job where he should have been stopped, just go back and review it, there was no low blow and he went down like a bi_ _ hhhhh! That’s how I saw it, but he’s smart, relaxed an can box his a_s off allah Steve Cunningham

I agree that Usyk got KO’d in his last fight. The punch landed on the belt line. I think that Dubois was robbed.

Cunningham has PTSD from fighting Fury.
