Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr. Has Two Questions About Tyson Fury-Oleksandr Usyk

Just like Oleksandr Usyk, Roy Jones Jr. understands the rigors of moving up in weight for a shot at a heavyweight championship against a bona fide big man. Jones will argue that his ascent, which culminated in a 2003 WBA heavyweight title victory over John Ruiz, was an even more monstrous challenge than Usyk's attempt to stand as undisputed heavyweight champion against unbeaten Tyson Fury on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Lately, RJJ takes have been of the kind "A has never been drop, B has been. Therefore A will beat B". He's a terrible analyst imo

I don’t know your reading level nor comprehension but what he compared like most often, himself to Usyk and what he has to do to accomplish the task. He then mentioned if he can’t adjust to the jab it can be a long night. Lastly, reading is fundamental!

I don't know if you have reading comprehension skills, but I was never talking about Fury-Usyk, I'm talking about his predictions on Canelo-Benavidez and Beterbiev-Bivol, that's why I said RJJ opinion on Fury-Usyk is irrelevant to me

I'm a huge Roy fan, but while he's tooting his horn and mentioning how he went up from a lower weight than Usyk..he should probably mention the level of opponent he fought at heavyweight...John Ruiz. Usyk would beat John Ruiz 100 times out of 100, probably 1 handed.

It's funny how quick the trolls are to trash the opinion of an all time great like Roy Jones. He's forgotten more about boxing than 99% of the people on boxing scene know (myself included). I'm willing to bet if these same trolls met Roy in person they'd be singing his praises and sucking up to him big time.

HEY hey hey no John Ruiz disrespect could ever be tolerated, this is a man who fought Holyfield thrice as well as RJJ & a juiced up James Toney, winning world titles along the way... & all after he got hit hard enough to make most fighters rethink their whole career by David Tua. Albeit thrown in a very different context, the final punch landed in that brief, brief masterpiece of destruction make that uppercut Tank hit LSC with look like a greasedown & a shiatsu fr.

But yeah you're right one-handed Usyk 100 out of 100, definitely.
