  • the list is a lil off. Mayweather only defended against Hatton.
Mayweather beat Bladomir and won the ring,
then fought De La Hoya at 154
    Hatton, and retired

But you can have fun nitpicking through every move Floyd makes in his career...
Vivian Harris had at the time had a title. He could of fought Harrins instead of Bruseles. He would of made more money for Harris than what he got for Bruseles. And, if he would of beat Harris he could of had a unification fight with Gatti. Which would also mean more money. So for his own legacy Harris was the fight he should of taken instead of Bruseles. Business wise more money fight? Harris was the fight he should of taken instead of Bruseles.

These are the facts, Please do discuss !

Shouldn't Mayweather be up either between Duran and Leonard or Forrest and Benitez since he also only made 3 defenses. Sitting on a title for 20 months doesn't actually mean anything. It doesn't mean he's the second longest reigning 'lineal' champion because he only fought three times across 20 months for gods sake.

Leonard's first reign, before losing to Duran, lasted only eight months and yet he had the same amount of title defenses that Mayweather had. Does that mean Mayweather was a greater and longer reigning champion?

I mean, I figure that's what you're trying to say with this really. None of your threads have anything to do with other boxers. The only point of your threads is to try and make Mayweather look good and yet all this proves is that he sat on his ass not fighting anyone of note for two years, whereas fighters like Spinks, Honeyghan and Forrest had more defenses in much less time than Mayweather so they should be well above him.

Defending your 'lineal' title against true high ranked fighters four times in only 12, 13, 14 months is much more impressive than three defenses across two damn years!

Anyway, what exactly is that point of this, out of curiosity? I ask this because I would love to know the actual reason you chose to create this thread?

Also, while the numbers may look good, they are also wrong in that the fights you mentioned had nothing to do with the 'lineal' title. Mayweather only had one fight across those twenty months of the 'lineal' title or are you counting any fights he had, regardless of whether they were WW fights or not?

          Just wondering.

          • I have nothing really to contribute to this thread that has not been stated already, I just want to say thanks and I really enjoyed the read. It was pretty good for a thread designed to nutthugg Floyd in some way

These threads are always based in part fact and part fiction that is why he gets owned eventually in every thread he makes trying to justify all of Floyd's lack of action qualifying him as the GOAT.

That is not a better question. At that time they were the top fighters in their division.

That is like saying everyone is avoiding Paul Williams. And, lest say Paul Williams losses to Pavlik. And, then P-Will does not amount to anything special. And, then we as fans would say well it was OK for every top fighter who avoided him cuz P-Will did not amount to anything special. Is that ok to you bro? Cuz is not ok with me. Cuz at this time P-Will is a threat to any top 147. He is a top fighter.

It dosen't matter if P-Will dose not amount to anything special. But, right now at this time. He is a top fighter. At that time while Floyd was in their division. Spadafora, Dorin, Harris, and Johnston were top fighters. There is no excuses for avoiding them.

Floyd left all those pretenders at 140 for big bucks at the higher divisions...

Well Spadafora is still fighting, he is still undefeated, Pernell Whitaker is his trainer. Spadafora spent a couple years in prison. Got out I think had 1 fight and then went back to jail for another year.

Vivian Harris started declining it happens.

Stevie Johnston was good bro. You 19 you probably don't remember how good. He was 'lil but bad' I thought he edged out Castillo in both fights. And, I don't know why he and Shane never fought that would of been great to see. Johnston is not a hall of famer but he was good bro

                    • i didn't know he could count the DLH fight as a defense for a 147 belt....SO IN REALITY THE ONLY TIME MAYWEATHER DEFENDED THE LINEAL TITLE WAS AGAINST HATTON...a 140pounder...in a 20month period he defended the 147 lineal title ONCE vs a 140pounder...Is that supposed to impress someone?
