But he fought in a time where fighters were not as powerful, well conditioned or skilled as they are today. In addition, he lost to Jake Lamotta. Nothing against Jake, he was a warrior, the Arturo Gatti of his day. But to lose to him, by decision nontheless, is just not impressive.

What are you saying Kid Gavilan was a beast very skilled fighter. Not well conditioned? they use to go 15 rounds. I can only name a handfull of fighters of today that could go 15rds. Lamotta was the only fighter to beat him in his 20's and in his first 130 fights Did you know that? Did you also know that SRR weigt under the WW limit for that fight. While Lamotta weight above the MW limit. Jake was is ATG argubly a top 5 greatest MW of all time. He beat a lot of top fighters and has very underrated skills. He was pretty good at rolling punches. Bro is SRR hands down and you are really underrating Lamotta.

Altough the general consensous is Robinson IMO you could make a strong case for Langford based on resume alone.

I don't know too much about SRR.. It's hard for me to relate. Since the thread question is who do -you- think is the GOAT I'll go with Ali. He had so much charisma skill and heart I can't but admire the dude a true HW who fought and beat all the best.
