  • Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis: Even If Victorious Over Usyk, Fury Will Still Have Two Boxes Left To Tick

Lennox Lewis was not only the last man to really beat the man, he was also the last heavyweight to preside over the division without argument. For Tyson Fury to do the same, Lewis believes it will take more than just victory over Oleksandr Usyk on May 18.

But Lennox vs Tyson wasn’t prime vs prime. We’ll never know what would have happened if both were at their peak . I like Mike . Just my opinion .

And there never could have been a prime Lewis vs Tyson, Tyson was at his best in the mid to late 80s his star shun brightly but it burnt out just as quickly.

Lennox wasn't even making any waves on the world scene til like 92/3 at which point Tyson was in jail.

But even then you could argue Lennox didn't become the best version of himself until his link up with Manny in 95 and around that time there was the Don King step aside mess..

Arguably you could apply the "Prime vs Prime" to any and all fighters; it's a very very rare thing that both fighter's primes align.

You are correct,it’s extremely rare. But if they had met closer to Tyson’s best I like Mike because his chin was much better.Lewis factually ko’d Twice in his prime .

An over the hill Holyfield nearly beat you. A prime Holyfield surely would have. Lewis comparing himself to beating guys prime for prime is a joke. Holyfield-lewis 2 was close and Holy had already been through 2 Tyson fights and 3 Bowe fights among many other wars.

Holyfield is the best of the era easy .

Bollocks. Lennox never fought moorer, who split bouts with his own defining opponent Holyfield. Foreman & Bowe either though of course they wanted no part of him. None of this cheapens his legacy.

Lennox was very fortunate to fight past prime Tyson and Holyfield to boost his resume.
