Yes, if it's time for boxing's hype machines to crown Anderson as the next great American heavyweight, it's time to match him up with a fearsome puncher like Wilder.
My guess is Anderson tastes the canvas for a Tuscaloosa nap even if Wilder is on the decline.
If Wilder beats Zhang the Anderson fight would be very intriguing. Is Anderson ready for such a test? Personally, I don't believe so. Going from Merhy to Wilder is a big step up.
wilder is on strike 1 & 2 from his last fight, he better stay off those psychoactive plants if he has any shot of winning fights again, im not so sure, i think hes done

Yeah, that's what makes this matchup interesting - a true crossroads fight.
* For Wilder - what does he have left and can he still be relevant as anything other than a gatekeeper?
* For Anderson - meh, just show us what you got. I don't want to hear any more hype.
Regardless of whether Wilder will win or lose against Zhang, this will be a good fight for Jared the hype and his best opponent so far - way better than what he has faced. But he seems reluctant to make a step forward towards better opposition after his last fight. If Wilder beats Zhang, then Anderson will surely not want the fight. As for Wilder - it will be a decent fight because Jared is a lot younger.
