Comments Thread For: Todd duBoef Hopes to See Gervonta Davis-Shakur Stevenson: 'It Makes Sense'

For many, a fight between Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Shakur Stevenson is one of the best that can be made in the sport - and that was before this week's bad-blooded exchanges on social media.

I’d love to see it but it doesn’t make any sense for Tank from a commercial standpoint.

Shakur is supremely talented but he isn’t a draw and doesn’t have an exiting style. He’s gonna struggle getting the big fights IMO.

tank should do what a lot of modern boxers do now, like canelo for example and benny, go tell the pest guy to fight other people (Who u beat Who u beat Who u beat, F off F off haha etc) & then a few years later, duck him anway

lots of tanks opponents dont have an exciting style or not a draw but that doesnt stop the fight, as ellerbe himself says of these guys 'He cant beat tank, he cant beat tank', ok thanks for that santa clause

This is a fight 4 yrs from now @ 140. Tanks size n style is 140 max with scripted catch weight weight clauses for anything above, Shakur lack of power 140 is his max to be elite tank should fight Loma this year while @ 135

Yep, this fight needs to happen. If it’s not financially viable at the moment then make it so. Put them on a path to collide by starting the promotion now. Have them at each others fights, have them in the same advertisements by potential sponsors who stand to profit off them fighting, etc etc. all you need is good promotion and this fight would be the highest meeting of those with p4p talent. AND it’s the classic matchup of a fleet footed boxer vs an aggressive boxer-puncher

Tank would beat him. Shakur isn’t all he’s being hyped up to be and when he have no power to stop a guy like tank from engaging it’s only a matter of time before he catches you not to mention Tank has just as high of a ring IQ if not higher.

DuBoef dropping Tanks name to try to hype Stevensons next fight.

                  I'll happily watch Tanks fights.
                  But i'm done with Shakur.

All this talk about " p4p talent , most skills in the game " doesn't mean much when you have an unappealing style ( for most ).

All the so - called " boxing purist " can keep Shakur and his boring style.

Gimme Tank , Ryan and Teofimo any day of the week.

It’s NEVER going to happen. Tank still shakes when people bring up Loma and he’s OLD.
