So...they tried to drain Benavidez down to 160

    For shame...

David Benavidez claims he was offered a fight with Terence Crawford by HE Turki Alalshikh before the Israil Madrimov bout was made. However, the proposed weight was a step too far for Benavidez and…

"He [Alalshikh] did mention one fighter, he wanted me to go down to 160lbs (middleweight) to fight Terence Crawford," Benavidez revealed to Sean Zittel about his conversation with the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority.
"I was like ,'Bro, I can't do that'. I mean if I could be able to make 160lbs that would have been amazing, but I can't.

    "I can't remember the last time I weighed 160lbs."

Turki gots some big & good ideas, but it feels like he doesn't take weight seriously lol.

Hes just got mfers jumping to other divisions like weight is nothing. In this case he wanted Bud to jump 13lbs, David to drop 8lbs. I mean in theory it sounds fair, but weight don't work like that. Moving a tip top guy up 2 divisions can make him a whole other mfer. We've seen it before. Moving a guy whos already missed weight at his current weight down a division is some potential end end up in the hospital sh^t.

I got lil doubt his ideal Tank fight involves Tank going to 128 (-7lbs) & Monster going up to 128 (+6lbs) or some wild sh^t like that.

I dig what Turki is doing but their are weight divisions for a reason. Some of this sh^t isn't bad if we are just moving Rayo to 140, when hes made his bones at 135, to fight for a belt randomly vs Pitbull or we are talking about David going to 175 to fight the Bivol vs Beterbiev winner. But the previous talk of the Bivol vs Beterbiev winner jumping 25lbs to fight Jai, this David vs Bud fight or his talk of Bud vs Canelo are a lil fooking goofy.

What's new? He wanted to send Bivol or Beterbiev to 200 to get put in ICU vs Jai. Someone must have told him about weight division matters in boxing so he said Benavidez vs the winner.

I'm sure he has people scouting the boards and social media to see what fans are asking for but it probably takes someone to explain to him 'the weight divisions for a reason'. Then the correct matchups are made.

Benavidez' weird ass frame and saucer nips make him look fatter than he is. Don't blame Turki for thinking he could cut down to 160.

I think the avg CW is under David's height. David is a giant ass 168lber. Anyone should be able to see that. The one solid argument Canelo has to not fight David, the #1 guy at his weight who he should be fighting, is cuz hes a giant ass 168lber.

Turki appears to be a legit fan & has a lot of good takes, but hes waaaaaaay off on how weight works or at least should operate in boxing.

This Alalshiek can't be that naive. People can't just gain or lose tremendous amounts of muscle at the snap of a finger. Expecting a fair fight between a guy at his natural weight vs a guy at a fabricated weight is unrealistic.
