I could easily get to Saudi, I just wouldn’t want to watch live sport there, as there’s little to no atmosphere.

I’m more than happy for fights to happen there if there’s no viable alternative, Beterbiev vs Bivol is a prime example. However, every big fight going to Saudi takes the sport away from its fans and that’s very wrong IMO.

at all with a global presence of the sport. He’ll take the sport back on the road such as the days of Ali in many different countries…but that environment in Saudi really reminds me of the covid boxing matches with no fans. Roaring boisterous fans magnify the sport, especially the atmosphere of a big fight a long awaited fight. Big fights in London, Manchester, New York, Las Vegas, Paris, Johannesburg, Tokyo, Sydney, Toronto, Buenos Aires etc etc
100%. They haven’t built a good culture for live sport whatsoever. I always say, if you’re a passionate boxing fan, there’s no better experience than a Vegas fight week, the big fight feel is palpable.

The Saudi money is great but sport without fans is nothing.

That likely explains your mindset then. Big fights moving to Saudi wouldn’t impact your viewing experience whatsoever.

There’s thousands and thousands of boxing fans who spend their hard earned money on regularly attending fights, big fights almost exclusively happening in Saudi is taking the sport away from them. I just think that’s so wrong.
