He’s not trying to play the villain like Floyd and Broner.

Devin turned pro in Mexico and moved there with his father to live there in the early parts of his pro career.

He couldn’t get a pro license in the US because he was too young so he had to go and get his stripes in Mexico.

Mexico gave him his professional foundation and thus owes Mexico a debt of gratitude.

He is killing two stones with one bird.

1. Paying homage to Mexico for what it did for his pro career.

2. Trolling Ryan for being more Mexican than Ryan is since he actually lived in Mexico for a while unlike Ryan and has staged many fights in Mexican soil, unlike Ryan.

Maybe so….but with all that being said Devin has no Hispanic fan base much less a significant fan base at all. He will never endear himself to the Hispanic fans with that pitty-pat, hold, run fight for the decision style. Suddenly dressing in black with dark shades and allowing his pathetic Dad to trash talk like an ignorant idiot looks like they are going the “villain” route to try and become any significant draw. We will see.
