I think its a fair analogy. Its simply about old ppl hating new things & is a story as old as time.

If Lampley was 22yrs old in 2024 he'd be all over social media & sending dong pics to hoes like so many others in their 20s in 2024.

Jim dropping facts like usual. And man do I ever miss the prime HBO days. Jim, Manny, Larry, George, and Roy. Boxing has never felt as big or as polished since.

Again, what's your point? There was, and remains, very valid criticism of television. People watch far too much of it for one thing.

I know in our youth obsessed culture it's fun to mock the elderly, but they do have wisdom to pass on.

Lampley: Social media and tweeting are for idiots and knuckle-draggers. So log on to my website and subscribe to me live-tweeting the fights!

That Lampley doesn't have a point except "grumpy old man shakes fist at new things he doesn't understand".

Like I said if Lampley was 20 now he'd be all over social media & if he had the same take today in his 20's he'd be dogging television, cable or hell HBO.

It's an incoherent point though. Taken to its logical conclusion you're suggesting older people can't take a critical opinion of technology.

                    No Im saying Lampley can't.

Ik & have known plenty of old ppl who are great with technology & change. But its a truism there are a class of old ppl who succumb to "change is evil" at some point in their aging. Lampley just doesn't have the self awareness to see this about himself.

I would still put Lamps ahead of any blow by blow in the business today...by miles. Most likely, broadcast decision makers are concerned that what is apparent in this article may leak into his job, which is a basic contempt of anything new. That's the shame...he should be taking Tessitore's, Ranallo's and for sure Grisham's job but I wonder if he would run off prompter and start with a bunch of "in my day" dialogue not only to viewers but to his colleagues. That part is insufferable, especially if it's as detailed and consistent as what he made it sound here.

That's the trick - age, but never get old. There's always something to change to, adapt to, appreciate, and learn.
