Comments Thread For: Chris Algieri's School Of Thought: Anderson's Biggest Test Is His Date In Court, Not Merhy

Ryad Merhy doesn't appear close to a tough fight for Jared Anderson. He's a blown-up cruiserweight who's Anderson's opponent because he beat Tony Yoka, but Tony Yoka's in decline. Anybody capable of troubling Anderson is a bonafide, modern-day heavyweight.

    Chris got jokes lol.

Don't disagree with him, but at the end of the day the slap on the wrist he'll likely receive as an athlete with some level of celebrity will probably look like the path of least resistance compared to the punches to the face he'll take from Ryad.

So many antisocials in boxing, it gets a bit tiring over the decades. One can only wonder what guys like spadafora and ibeabuchi could have become

Good examples of the expression "we are our own worst enemy".

Remember Tony Ayala? You can add him to the list.

He's really good, and all the best to Jared.

I just couldn't quite understand the big hype though, after his first nine or ten fights.

I could see he's not the level of a Mike Tyson, Bowe, Lewis, Holyfield, to mention some from the last 25 years or so.

Today's heavyweights, it would be tough for him against AJ and Usyk, as well as Fury, whom of course he's sparred a lot against.

There's lots of room to improve. He's got the physical attributes and good power, and I'm sure Top Rank will get him a big money fight.

Algieri's wrong. Merhy is much bigger and stronger than most Cruisers. I think he is and will be a good HW. It's good match-making by Top Rank. It will probably be a better than anticipated fight. Well, potentially anyway.
