    Israel Vazquez

I can't front, lol I hated this guy after the Marquez fights but I always knew who he was and respected him. And given the move up in weight and the lay off, I think his fight was fairly impressive. He's almost like Juan Marquez in the sense that he avoids just enough punishment to stay alive in fights, plus being a throwback tough guy helps when you do get tagged lol. His head movement was on point when it had to be early on so that he had enough mental juice to **** it out later in the fight, and that's probably more vital than any other attribute for fighters. You got to know how to avoid punishment. If you don't have the greatest reflexes in the world or you just don't like to play defense and just want to play offense, as a fighter you should at least be able to pick up the opponents quickest punches and know how to get away from those exact shots when you need to. Vazquez can do that.

The guy is just naturally built like a machine. Last night kind of looked like the Gonzalez fight, in the sense that this Priolo kid had the reach advantage. I think Israel will always have problems with guys that have reach on him, but he does a fantastic job of finding his range and getting past that reach. He never smothers his punches and he's always capitalizing off of his leverage. The basic signs of a guy who knows how to fight. Nothings more annoying than seeing a guy trip over his own feet or try to throw ridiculous punches from no-leverage stances.

It's crazy to see him as the smaller man though, he's never been tall for his chosen division, but he's always been built like a ****in pit bull. He was always shorter than guys, but at the same time he was always thicker. Priolo wasn't ripped, but he definitely showed the difference in size compared to Vazquez. I think the move up in weight WILL play a huge factor in Izzy's future fights, but that was kind of expected. But all in all, I wish the guy the best and this last fight was the first time in 3 fights I got to cheer for him

Vazquez looks great at featherweight, however that fight was a very, very tough one. There were many bombs traded and I don't like to see someone as far down their career as Vazquez is, take those bombs. Still, the challenger was game and came ready to fight. A good win for Vazquez.

I don't know where you people saw him looking good.

He lost rounds nad got his repeatedly with the right hand by a low level fighter who has lost his last 6.

I agree, but the fact he's that far down his career and able to take those shots like a animal is what shocks me. The guy is a throwback, through and through. It's crazy, everyone gets their vagina's moist when they see fast hands, but when you see a tough ass guy....you just stare at that **** like he's ****in invincible or something. It's just something you're forced to respect.

You take a person who isn't even a boxing fan, and play the Gatti/Ward fights for them and they'll all have the same look on their face.

I should have said he looked good for where he's at physically in his career. He did struggle though. And I know everyone has seen the better of Israel and knows the obvious about him, it's just I haven't been able to focus on him for about a year or two. His last 3 fights I was focused dead on Raf, and Raf only.

Now I'm just finally gettin a chance to focus on Iz. The more of his fights I watch now that the Marquez fights are over, lol I'm slowing seeing why he was able to pull those last 2 fights off in the fashion that he did.
