Pacquiao's Options: Cotto Rematch, Mosley or Marquez

Every time there is an article on this site about a potential fight between Floyd and Pac, some dumass like you claims Floyd is pricing himself out. There have been no negotiations and yet you say Floyd is pricing himself out. I wont' waste time arguiing with a fool, but I will state a fact that even you can't dispute. If Floyd and Pac fought and Pac received 40 percent, it would be the biggest purse of his career. He will never make as much money against Cotto, Mosley, Marquez or anyone else. You can't say the same for Floyd. He can fight anyone and still make $15 million. That is a fact!!!Comment

I'm just talking about what happened. Pacquiao and Roach were going to walk away from Cotto since he wouldn't budge, but why would they suddenly change their mind when Mosley said he would drop to 140 and fight for his title? Even with the speculation about Mosley being weight drained(although it would be his own doing since he said he would go to that weight), why not take the fight since your terms weren't being met? Pacquiao was going to make the same money either way, so why not take the fight at your more natural weight unless you're more afraid of the fighter at that lower weight?Comment

but floyd will never agree.
and so for the sake of having this fyt, 50-50 split will do.
otherwise we can say that floyd really priced himself out!!Comment

Have you ever consider Sugar Ray Leonard is much better than May jr? and even Ali? or Robinson & Rocky Marciano for that matter?
Have you ever ponder the 1st fight between SRL & Duran? SRL is way more talented & skilled boxer the Duran but SRL lost that fight plus the fact that Duran moved up 2 weight division from LW to WW.
I mean someday, somehow, May will loose IF he fight a legit contender in WW, nobody is indestructible.
SRL fought the best in his era, he lost and he won, that's why he's 1 of the ATG.Comment

I have said it in the past, if the Pacman-Cotto fight lives to the expectation and it is a true war in the ring we might be able to see a rematch. If it's Cotto who wins the rematch will be at 147. This is a great event and a big payday for both fighters and if the fight is so good the people that buy the PPV and tickets the 1st time will buy it for a rematch and then you will add the people that did not buy the PPV plus more sponsors will want to get on board, making the 2nd fight even a bigger event and bigger payday.
Once again this is IF it is a great fight. Why would they be looking for others to share the pot when they own it!!!!
I see lots of problems to make Pacman/PBF because of their demands. If Pacman wins I beleive SSM would even be easier to make (not an easier fight) unless Berto brings an upset to Mosely. Then he will be in the scenario too.
I do see a easier negotiation for a possible Cotto-PBF. Cotto has never been an obstacle negotiation time and i beleive he would probably accept a 55-45 or 60-40 split against PBF..
Bottom line is that IF the Cotto-Pacman is a good entertaining and close fight, and PBF is out of the picture because of his demands (valid or non valid), Pacman-Cotto II will have, IMO, the best chance for March. Because Mosley (and any other fighter beside PBF for that matter)won't generate more money for Cotto or Pacman IF a rematch is worthy.Last edited by prsi; 10-12-2009, 07:00 AM.Comment
