Bek should be screaming for Berlanga, Pacheco, Mbilli, Plant, Shiskin, and Morrell Jr.! He shouldn't be fighting people outside the Top 15, much less outside the Top 100!

Exactly right. Neither Golden Boy nor Matchroom has been able to back up its talk with solid fight cards since DAZN tightened up its wallet. PBC does seem willing to spend money but it is so obsessed with keeping everything in-house - and we’ve been missing out on good fights as a result.

Until they work together they won’t be seeing the profits and gaining fans interest if every promotion wants to be delusional and think they can in house everything.

Subriel Matias will be fighting at a smaller arena in Manati, Puerto Rico which is a hour from San Juan. Matias can sell out the biggest arena in Puerto Rico but Matchroom anD DAZN don’t have that money and connections to make big events.

There's some subjectivity involved when interpreting the quality of a card. There are fans who focus primarily on specific networks/promotions, ethnicity/nationalities, weight divisions, etc. Some fans refuse to watch women fight. A fighter who dislikes HWs will not care as much about the Saudi cards and fans who don't want to watch the 'midgets' won't care about Bam vs. Sunny. Two fans can interpret the same events/match-ups very differently. I think the most objective way to judge the overall health of a promotion is the size of their stable and amount of cards they're throwing.

This is MR's first card in PR (?), and Matias hasn't fought at home since 2019. Matias only ever main-evented once on a SHO card (vs. Ponce at The Armory in Minnesota) and he was never given a home game. Maybe MR is choosing to err on the side of caution so they can gauge Matias' drawing power without taking a loss. As you said, MR needs time to network with the locals and work their way up to the bigger venues. Maybe if MR builds a solid relationship with Matias, they'll have the opportunity to make him the centerpiece of a bigger event. What are the biggest sporting arenas in San Juan?

The biggest indoor arena is José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum which holds about 17k, you also have the Roberto Clemente coliseum which holds 13k. I don’t know I think Matias can sell out the Clemente coliseum since the island is itching for some boxing and a championship fight. We will see but MR might be testing the waters
