i bet if you ask 100 18-year old kids to name one current heavyweight fighter, maybe one or two would be able to name one...

outside of the brothers k, its not even a real division...

my point wasnt that tyson didnt affect the sport positively...he did...theres no arguing that...

but to say he "saved" boxing is just a bold ass statement...especially when the division he thrived in is a festering dump...

Although at he was a huge draw for the sport and he was great to watch ....he was all so detrimentall for it to....what with raping people...assaulting people in the street...biting people ears off ...hiting people after the ref said stop...etc

Tyson brought in fans, fans that became Pro Boxers who would capture their own fans.

This sport is built on destruction and violence. So much so, that two of the biggest stars of the sport, fought similar: Dempsey and Tyson.

It's the same reason why people run to a street-fight.

I think "saved" as far as boxing as a whole, is the wrong choice.
Tyson drew interest in the HW division and boxing in general...but boxing was still good with lower weight division fighters. Tyson helped bring in new blood but it wasn't going to die.
