I became a hardcore boxing fan 11/05, due to Tyson. He gave life to this sport like no other.

No doubt he brought crowds back to boxing.
Truely only tyson and ali have transcended the sport. People will say SRL or de la hoya, but i'm talking on a global scale.
SRL and DLH are not that well know world wide. Where as ALI and tyson are know EVERYWHERE.
You say boxing and most ppl will either say ALI or TYSON!!!!!!

he was very good for the sport...but what exactly did he "save" it from?

Prime Tyson got me into the sport when I was a lil kid. Loved watchin his reign of terror BITD. Dude fought everybody, beat em by KO, and always made the crowd happy.

Mike Tyson was the first PPV cash cow, before De La Hoya and Mayweather.
If you don't see how he saved boxing in his era, then i don't even know how to finish this sentence.
