Imagine if Bivol ducked Ramirez for the same reason.

yeah, he learned. I’m sure he’d ask for a catchweight if David hadn’t come in at 166 against Plant.

maybe he’ll request a hydration clause like the majority of his other fights
        Yup.

That is why I don`t believe Canelo is the best fighter of this generation.

I don't see how that doesn't make him a favorite to win that fight. If he is the underdog with the bookies, id put money on Benavidez for the "upset"
Ramirez also had all the advantage over Bivol. Ramirez won 1 round.

I can see how it's frustrating for fans, when Canelo talks like that, because we know he can beat Benavidez.

Not that one should compare a common opponent, but look at what Canelo did to Plant.

It would be a helluva fight though, not as technically challenging as Morrell, but more fireworks.

Canelo screwed up. Funny how he has adopted nearly every aspect of Mayweather’s approach to fighting aside from when to take on young lions. Mayweather fought Canelo when he was relatively green.

Benavidez was the best fighter at 168 before Canelo moved up and arguably still is. Instead of doing what Mayweather did and fight him before his skills started to decline, he took the easy option and effectively stole the WBC belt against Yildrim ffs. That fight should have been against Benavidez. And yes it was Benavidez’s fault he lost that belt, but that doesn’t suddenly make him a lesser fighter. If Canelo had any sense at that point he would’ve chosen Benavidez to fight for that belt but he didn’t. He chose the easy option and picked it up from Yildrim, has been ducking Benavidez ever since and now it’s come back to bite him. The WBC are so far up his a$$ that he could have fought who he wanted for that belt and they’d have gone along to get their fat cut.

And to suggest his legacy doesn’t need it is utter cr@p. Everyone still bangs on about Leonard ducking Prior and that was 30 odd years ago and not even close to as blatant as Canelo ducking Benavidez. It’ll follow him forever if he retires before taking the fight and his legacy will be tarnished.

And the weight comment also doesn’t wash. Since when has Canelo ever been at any sort of weight disadvantage since the Mayweather fight aside from Bivol who quite rightly stuck to his guns within the rules. And there be it, within the rules. If Benavidez makes 168 the day before that should be it. If Canelo can’t rehydrate as far due to age then tough as he quite happily enjoyed that advantage for most of his career and has picked up the reputation of being a weight bully diva because of it.

Mike Tyson, sober or not, is saying exactly what most true fans of the sport feel. Defend your belts or give them up.

So Canelo won't fight the best contender, his legacy will be tarnished. He really must be afraid he'd lose.

Yes, Bivol has bigger balls than Canelo.

Ramirez was actually a heavywieght in the ring, so you guys instructed me.

Bivol is undersized light heavy, he is fighting bigger guys his whole career.
