I love this move for both Custer (my personal favorite) and Mauro (who brings crazy energy to the analyst table)! They could’ve stuck us with Mancini and Lenox Lewis who equally chapped my hind parts while on Fox.
We know Paulie’s a no-go because of Espinoza (sp) and who knows what Al is up to nowadays—wouldn’t mind having him back to seal the deal!
Again, they could’ve given us ANY type of commentators and told us to be happy with it since boxing found a nice platform to land after all that crap that went on.
I think he’d be a good addition only if he can speak his mind
Some good back and forth with Ranallo imo
As long as he’s not a yes man
And you think both those guys are anything besides a yes man?!! Give me a guy like Luke Thomas who understands how to break down a fight over a guy who only knows colorful wordplay. You can tell he's always thinking how clever he must be sounding. Its all to cringy for me to listen to. In boxing he comes second only to Jim grey in guys I really hate.
Some of you are nuts for going against Ranallo. He's part of the reason Showtime's fights had so much energy. If you don't think so, rewatch Broner-Maidana. Sure, his voice sounds artificially at first, but once he gets on yelling during a match with excitement, it immediately brings me to that level of what I'm watching. He's no Jim Lampley or Al Bernstein, but he's far from the worst. I think Lennox Lewis takes that trophy. I'll never forget, "he's bleeding from the nose, so he must of got hit in the nose". No f**king **** Lennox.
Brian Custer on the other hand can be rather dry and not all that needed for commentary as opposed to when he's at press conferences and doing some MC work. Not all folks can wear all hats.
