I'd love to see a rematch. That was a great fight to the end. I agree that a standing eight count may have been warranted, but Kholmatov turned his back. That's a no-no and a sign of defeat.

      There’s no standing 8 counts.

Props to Khomaltov for not blaming the knee specifically. Hope to see a rematch.

OK, the ref could have called a knockdown and counted. Stopping a championship fight with 7 seconds left without an actual KO is not right.

Kholmatov seems like a better fighter than I expected but he moved a lot for someone with an injury.

If you wanted the ref to start a count, you should have taken a knee. You turned away, which is giving up. If you were recovering, why turn away from your opponent? Protect yourself at all times ring any bells?

Regardless, hope you come back stronger and learn from this experience. You fought a good fight to that point.

I know, I did mention that before. A big no-no.

The ref intervening while Ford was bashing him post to post, for any other reason than to wave it off would not have been fair to Ford. If he’d taken a knee the fight would have ended in a majority draw. He should have done so, but he was out on his feet, looking for an exit.
