Mike Tyson Goes Off on Canelo Alvarez for Trying to Cherrypick Berlanga and Munguia and Ducking Benavidez Like the Plague: “Canelo is a Shame to the Sport of Boxing and Mexico!”

I can't believe what I just heard, Canelo rejected to fight Benavidez, who is a tremendous fighter, young, strong, with hunger and Mexican pride," Tyson noted.

"What's wrong with Canelo? Is he afraid of losing? Doesn't he want to give the fans the fight they want to see?

"Don't you want to give the fans the fight they want to see?

"Do you not respect the legacy of the great Mexican champions who faced the best regardless of the money?... Canelo a shame to the sport of boxing and Mexico.

"If I were him, I would accept the fight with Benavidez and show the world that he is the best. But it seems he doesn't have the courage to do it; It is a shame, because he has he lacks heart."

Well...we said Benavidez is the next logical.

NSB kept yelling for Canelo to fight Crawford. Which likely contributed to Canelo just saying F it, I'll just go another way entirely.

Boxing is about money above everything nowadays. Its good cuz the boxers get their full value more now then ever since they are playing the same game promoters & platforms are playing, but its bad when fans wanna see the best fight the best.

I think a lot of boxers have been getting more than their value. For instance, GGG got a big contract and then fought nobodies at the end. And he's not the only one.

If a fighter brings in 10mil, then i guess maybe he deserves 5mil or whatever, but some of these numbers seem outrageous for the actual fights that are being made.

If Canelo doesn`t fight Benavidez this year, than he shouldn`t fight him.

Canelo is only getting older and Benavidez will only get stronger and more experienced.

Unless things don't go great for him if he fights the winner of Beter/Bivol. If he looks bad against the winner, Canelo might come calling.

If a guy is making $10M, but the promoter/platform is only making $5M off of him then the promoter/platform isn't gonna be in business long or is gonna learn real fast that they shouldn't be making that move again.

So I don't believe this is happening THAT much. I'm sure it does happen here & there & the GGG/DAZN deal might be a good example of a time it happened, but I'd bet there are more guys getting their fair market value or less than it then guys who are getting too much. I don't think boxing would be growing at the rate it is if THAT many boxers were being over paid.

I mean we live in a world where Tommy Fury has a 8 digit check from this sport ffs. And no one is trying to overpay a guy like Tommy Fury. Fury earned that with his revelance to his fans, social media following & least of all, quote literally, his boxing lol.
