Why does anyone care about Canelo at this point? He got his ass busted by Bivol and he chose never to seek the rematch. So right there, where's the Mexican pride? U got ur ass kicked real good, and u don't want no more?? U just go start calling out other ppl like nothing never happened??? And ur calling out everyone except the one that most boxing fans wanna see u fight, and that's David Benavidez. You didn't want no get back with Bivol and ur still running from Benavidez, but u wanna hold the belts hostage and keep picking and choosing and tip toeing around and bullsh....tting the fans who helped make you into a star. You're so blatantly ducking David Benavidez, I'll never buy another PPV of yours ever again. Its just going to be a carefully chosen money grab, a robbery of fans hard earned money. F...k Puto Canelo

The Canelo – PBC Deal Breakdown: What Really Happened?
        By Jeff Sorby - 02/27/2024

PBC was willing to give Canelo Alvarez his guaranteed purse for a fight with Jermall Charlo on May 4th, but he had to agree to face David Benavidez in September. No biggie, but ‘The Face of Boxing’ Canelo (60-2-2, 39 KOs) opted not to agree to the deal

Benavidez wasn’t one of the original three fighters that Canelo had agreed on for his three-fight deal with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC]. His first fight had been against Jermell Charlo, and the second would have been against his brother, Jermall.

It’s believed that the third fight that Canelo wanted was Jaime Munguia for September, which would have been a good option but not on the level of Benavidez.

PBC likely would have lost money if they gave Canelo his guaranteed $35 million for a fight against Jermall Charlo for May 4th, but they would have more than made their money back if Canelo-Benavidez had gone down for September like they had wanted.

Boxing insider Dan Rafael gives the lowdown:
        • The Payout Problem: PBC would have paid Canelo his guaranteed purse for a fight against Jermall Charlo on May 4th, but he would have to face David Benavidez in September for that to happen.
        • The Benavidez Factor: Canelo’s original three-fight deal with PBC didn’t have Benavidez among them. PBC wanted Canelo to take a smaller guaranteed purse for the Jermall fight, and he wouldn’t agree to that.
        Did Canelo Duck Benavidez?

The question that fans have is, did Canelo leave PBC to swerve a fight against Benavidez? It looks that way to many boxing fans, as Canelo would have gotten his guaranteed loot for the Jermall fight on May 4th and then a match against Benavidez in September.

If the main problem for Canelo was getting his guaranteed money for the Jermall fight, the problem was solved as long as he agreed to fight Benavidez in September. Canelo chose not to agree to the deal offered by PBC, and it seems obvious he didn’t want to fight Benavidez.

FYI. It is not the hardcore fans who determine whether a PPV fight is successful. The casual fans are the determining factor. Boxing is a niche sport in this country bordering on irrelevant. It is the boxer's individual "star" power that matters these days. Without that, no channel will broadcast the fights.

Canelo previously signed with Matchroom, because he wanted the biggest paydays for the least risk and Hearn who’s not playing with his money, obliged and let him fight pizza drivers with DAZN’s cash. Does anyone who still has any common sense think Hearn would pay Canelo 30M if the money was coming out of his pockets?

Haymon on the other hand, wanted fights with Benny and Morrell. Canelo played him like a burrito, just like he played the boxing public and the sanctioning bodies with the Carne Asada BS causing him to test positive for steroids.

So when the time comes to pay homage to the idiots who lost their common sense again, for the next Cinco de Mayo con, Canelo jumped ship again and Hearn, who has never spent a penny out of his pockets to pay fighters, went right back to DAZN idiots who will stay consistently ****** and let him fight Berlanga.

You would think that by now, some sanctioning body would have grown a spine, and strip Canelo for not fighting a real mandatory. But no, they all are fine with Canelo fighting Pizza delivery drivers because using their common sense is rare these days. DAZN, wake the F up already and stop allowing Canelo and Hearn from ripping you off.
So you are saying that undefeated champions, Cotto, Mayweather, Lara, Bivol, Plant, Jacobs, Golovkin, Austin Trout, and a few others are pizza delivery drivers? Got it.

Canelo has fought a few light touches but he has earned it. I agree with you that his resume has a lot of top guys on it. He is one of the top draws in boxing. Some dudes on here are haters and that's okay. That is what these forums are for. To express your opinion.
