they always say oh I'm not fighting this guy or that guy when Crawford doesn't have a dance partner he will fight. It shouldn't be that much longer before the Spence fight is called off and boots wants to be ready and not in a contractual fight obligation with another fighter. I don't think boots should wait around for Crawford for more than 2 more months and then move on if i was boots.
to be honest I would like for boots to move on right now and take a fight but I'm just explaining my rational for him not moving at this point. Also to be honest at this point in boots career i don't think he beats Crawford anyway.Comment

EWhat your suggesting is what I call the GGG route

Waiting around for another fighter just makes no fughin sense and doesn’t give you any leverage whatsoever if there were to be any kind of discussions
I think Bud beats him quite easily with Boots maybe figuring it out towards the end
A guy like Boots needs to keep busy and this isn’t busy especially if his lawsuit puts him shelvedComment

Yeah they only face winnable , recognizable names to keep the “upside “ growing. This way, ppl are looking at the possibilities rather than who Boots is actually fighting. Based on who boots has actually faced in the ring, what is his standing at 147lbs?
Choo know bout dat bidnessLast edited by Slip jab; 02-25-2024, 09:46 PM.Comment

After Crowley…this nonsense has to stop. Boots gotta fight either crawford or stannionis or move up 147 is a joke now. Conor benn is even more of a joke. If he wants any credibility put benn in with avanesyan, villa, ellis….all 3 would be good credible fights for him. If he could get through those 3 without a loss sure give eggs a shotComment

He's was chasing Spence, now he's chasing Crawford, IBF ORDERED him to fight Crowley!!!Boots has been chasing Crowley, an inactive guy with unimpressive skills. Some say he's the weakest link in the division. Ennis' most loyal fans actually agree saying Cody is just a quick appetizer for their idol Boots. Yeah, that's the guy Boots' team had been chasing. And Boots would probably get some $125K for that fight from PBC. Protective measures are more important than money from their vantage point for now.
Jaron Ennis, Cody Crowley Ordered to Have Mandatory IBF Welterweight Title Fight
FEBRUARY 17, 2024
The IBF announced Saturday that IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis will be required to have a mandatory title defense against Cody Crowley.
According to Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com, IBF championship chairman Carlos Ortiz released the following statement regarding the decision:
"IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis was promoted to champion Nov. 28, 2023, his mandatory defense is due on or before March 28, 2024. The leading available contender is No. 3 Cody Crowley.
"Negotiations should commence immediately and be concluded by March 1, 2024. If you are unable to come to an agreement for this bout within the 30 days, the IBF will call for a purse bid."
Per Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Ennis had wanted his next title defense to be against Mario Barrios, but he must first satisfy the mandatory defense against Crowley.
Mannix added that the current plan for Ennis vs. Crowley is for the bout to take place on the undercard of the next Canelo Alvarez fight provided Alvarez has another fight under the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) banner.
The 26-year-old Ennis is 31-0 with one no-contest during his professional career, and 28 of his wins have come by way of knockout.
He became interim IBF welterweight champion in January 2023 when he beat Karen Chukhadzhian by unanimous decision and retained it in a 10th-round knockout win over Roiman Villa in July.
When previous IBF welterweight champ Terence Crawford could not compete in a unification bout against Ennis due to a scheduled fight against Errol Spence Jr., Ennis was upgraded to the undisputed IBF welterweight champion.
Crowley, a 30-year-old from Canada, turned pro back in 2014 and has racked up a perfect 22-0 record with nine wins by way of knockout during his career.
He has never won or vied for a major world title, so the clash with Ennis will be the biggest fight of his career by far should it happen.

Boots need to win his lawsuit, and find a promoter ASAP! Conor Benn should definitely fight one of those 3, or Giovani Santillan! After Crowley…this nonsense has to stop. It has been around 5 years since Ennis burst, I guess, onto the scene...he just doesnt seem to fight anyone good, he could move up, he could have done lots of things.....maybe deep down his team knows something?
But it seems like he's been fighting this level of comp for years. Cody Crowley?

I'm not suggesting he sit around for 6 plus months or something ridiculous but its not uncommon to sit for a month or 2 and see how things play out with Spence and Crawford. You have to remember fighters aren't in the Cotto, Morales, Barrera era they are in this new era were they fight 10 fights and demand a payday like they are the second coming of Sugar ray Robinson.E

3 months ago:
Jaron Ennis: "Cody Crowley turned me down for Benavidez-Andrade card"
Why is he even chasing PBC fighters? Why would Haymon give his fighters to him? He signed with Showtime boxing, which is now extinct.
Also, there's a thread asking why the Mario Barrios didn't get made. Do you have any answer to that?
BTW, it's not a lie to say Ennis' own fans say Crowley is a non-competitive fight. You can see their comments on Youtube.Comment
