I honestly believe he thought the shot would be blocked, and probably wasn't even tensed up to take a shot, so when it got through, it really did some damage.

If there were in 16 ounce sparring gloves, that shot would have been blocked, but they were in 8 ounce fight gloves, thats why fighters need to stay active.

Hopefully he learns from this. I don't think this is a situation where we can question his chin, or his talent, or his skill, but it definitely throws into question his his approach to fighting. He came out relaxed like he already had the guy figured out.

He made a mistake and he paid for it. I am not sure if he comes back stronger or not, as I am not sure if his inactivity was truly due to injuries, or just a lack of desire to fight often. If it is the latter, then he will probably fade into obscurity, but if he really want be great, he still has all the tools to end his career as one of the best to ever enter the ring.

I love the internet, just a few years ago this would have been impossible. I read somewhere the stoppage was quick and it was a flash knockdown, gotta say bull****. He got hurt bad by the left hook, surprised he was even able to get up.

The referee had to stop that fight. Linares had no legs under him.
