If there were in 16 ounce sparring gloves, that shot would have been blocked, but they were in 8 ounce fight gloves, thats why fighters need to stay active.
Yeah, it just looked like one of those times where a fighter thought he had the punch covered but it somehow got through his guard. It happens to the best of them.

Yeah. You could see he expected a longer hook and wasn't able to judge Salgado's punch

Linares was anticipating the hook being longer than it was. He moved his glove back on his head and opened up the space where the punch snuck right through.

Just tough luck. He'll be back.

Hopefully he learns from this. I don't think this is a situation where we can question his chin, or his talent, or his skill, but it definitely throws into question his his approach to fighting. He came out relaxed like he already had the guy figured out.

He made a mistake and he paid for it. I am not sure if he comes back stronger or not, as I am not sure if his inactivity was truly due to injuries, or just a lack of desire to fight often. If it is the latter, then he will probably fade into obscurity, but if he really want be great, he still has all the tools to end his career as one of the best to ever enter the ring.

You saw it wrong. He had his gloves too far forward and the long hook came behind them and caught him on the temple.

The referee had to stop that fight. Linares had no legs under him.

Nah, it's the opposite. He thought it was gonna be long and moved his glove back. Look at the gif in slow-mo. It went inside the glove after he had moved his glove back.
