Kessler is showing Calzaghe why Joe is wasted talent.

Going into the lion's den to fight a prime fighter. When did Calzaghe ever do this? In fact, this will be Kessler's second time doing it. He may fall short, but I respect him for making the effort unlike Stay At Home Joe.

he didnt go into the lions den but he did defeat kessler in his prime when many people including myself thought he would lose that fight. calzaghe should be given credit for that and he also fought lacy when it was thought lacy would destroy him the win over hopkins although close is more impressive with how he looked against pavlik

I give Calzaghe credit for his win over Kessler too, but I'm just point out the fact that Kessler is doing something that Joe had the phobia of doing. And that is crossing the pond. This is why I rooted for Kessler to beat Joe, because he just struck me as someone with the right attitude. Of course Palle is a Danish clone of Frank Warren, so Kessler got out of that European protection system once he broke away from him even though he is with Sauerland right now.

Because Joe Calzaghe really had the oppurtunity of a super middleweight tourney. If Kessler wasn't apart of this, he'd have been fighting worse fighters then Calzaghe had.

yeah i agree that joe should have fought in the states earlier in his career but i dont know what the buisness side of things dictated at that point maybe fighting at home was what made him the most money at the time. ive also read that a fight with hopkins was supposed to be made years earlier but wasnt when hopkins agreed to a certain figure and then later demanded more.

Kind of hard to fight ppl who price themselves out according to HBO, Joe had a very hard time getting certain fighters to fight him because they priced themselves out.

I'll make Joe proud here and say "At the end of the day, it doens't matter if he stayed in wales, he is still a better fighter then Mikkel Kessler...btw I beat Jeff Lacy, Bernard Hopkins, and Roy Jones too"

Joe Calzaghe fought in Denmark, Germany, England (in prime Robin Reid's hometown), Scotland, and the US twice. When he fought in the US both he and his opponents were past prime.

How many times has Floyd Mayweather left the US in his pro career? When was the last time he fought anywhere but his hometown of Las Vegas?

When was the last time Hopkins fought outside the US? Chad Dawson dropped his WBC title because he didn't want to fight Adrian Diaconu in Romania, after his promoter won the purse bid. He instead fought old Tarver in the US.

Joe could attract more fans in Wales than the US, but still he came over here for his last two fights before retiring.

Last time I looked, he beat Mikkel Kessler.

                    Misc. things:

                    1. Tarver is a better fighter then Dicanou and that fight had the support of showtime, which Dawson-Dicanou did not anymore since Tarver Dawson had been put off numerous times.

                    2. Joe could attract more fans in Wales, but he wouldn't make nearly as good of a paycheck as he did against Hopkins and Jones.
