He's already established he's an ATG and after beating the mw champ could arguably still beat a few top guys at lhw but at his age and the likelihood of retirement very close why is he still fighting? It can't be for the money Hop said himself he could live off the interest. His legacy is secure so that can't be it. He doesn't want to fight Dawson the best lhw so he's not trying to clean out the division. So what is he trying to prove?
What has Hopkins got left to prove?

Im not actually to sure, he nothing left to prove. unless he just loves fighting and cant sit around all day doing nothing. Also with him fighting roy, i think he just wants to clear up somehting in his mind, he believe he could have beaten roy had he given him a rematch. Imagine if bhop would have ko'd roy around the same time as tarver did or before?? he would have been so much richer and his legascy would have been even better. -

he must be bored. remember most of these fighters are from poverty and broken homes. Imagine 10,000 fans screaming your name and everyone treating you like a god when your champ of the world?? it must be immense. Now he isnt boixng anymore he doesnt get that feeling of a god. Thats why fighters keep fighting to get that buzz and exitment that a big box office fight brings.Comment

He's fighting for money.....he said so himself during the infamous Calvin murphy show with Roy.
That is the main motive for every fighter....don't ever think otherwise. Fighting for 'legacy' is just marketing hogwash...especially for boxers. It's a brutal sport, not a game like basketball, baseball, hockey, etc.
The mentality is to make as much money as you can for as long as you can.Comment
