Beterbiev already mentioned he wanted to move ahead especially if he wasn’t getting the Bivol fight
I’m sure they will offer him silly money , once he defeats Bivol
I dont like the fight that much for beterbiev, i think really good chances he looses to Jai, and then what does it prove? he ran out of guys at 175 to knock out so have him move up at 40 to face a guy 11 years younger, much larger who is also quick, beterbiev is an accumulation guy and Jai controls distance well, i dont see beterbiev connecting a lot.
yeah beterbiev fought heavyweight for a bit as amatuer but that was more becasue the russian team swapped him and the other guy they had at heavyweight around, he was still fighting at light heavy before and they thought he was their best chance at heavyweight gold medal. hes made 175 for the last 10 years so he isnt huge, i dont know what the move up will look like for him at 40. though like others said no weight drain will help him but hes always had good stamina, what skipping the weight drain wont do is help him with speed which jai has a huge advantage.
Bivol and Beterbiev didn't have the balls to fight each other for 6 years, it'll take them another 6 years to move up to cruiserweight. Pair of p.ussies.
I disagree but I ain't made of gold so ... fair dues brah.
I favor staying in your division and owning the **** out of it. When you bop around the divisions you're making your career open to the "didn't fight X" criticism. Floyd fought pretty much everyone but folks still cry. The handful of names he didn't beat while covering 7 GD divisions. The names he did beat were not at the time these people wanted, in 7 GD divisions. The results he achieved were not the results this audience hoped for and so they cry about it, through 7 GD divisions.
Is the same **** true for SRR and Armstrong and ****? Yeah, kinda, instead of Joe Walcott being praised for taking on and beating some decent HWs despite being a mother ****ing welter, he's criticized as a HW for being too small to be a legit challenge to the champion. The only reason y'all see SRR and Armstrong being praised like as if there is nothing in their careers to criticize because y'all NSB posters. Hang around the history and classic sections of forums, there's a **** to cry about what a great man did not do regardless of how great the did do is. Always.
So, just staying in your division, man it clears **** up for you. All you got to do is knock off the top guys every year, if you got hella juxta on the division like Wlad had for a while, boy howdy do that make you look invincible ... like Wlad did for a while. Hagler do get **** for owning TF out of MW, but not as often as Floyd gets **** for what is essentially covering too many divisions to possibly dominate any of them like Marv did middle. Or Hop did middle.
Best case scenario you become a juxtaposition darling like Pac is to Mayweather. Contrarian's delight, where you're able to amount a win streak of what 15? Your entire career and some folks will pretend like that makes you somehow close to a man whose resume is more or less all the same exact names but never lost to any of them, eclipsing you best win streak by more than triple using the same names as props to their greatness. Best case scenario.
I think I'd rather be Marv or Nard than Floyd or Manny. IMO. I admit Floyd and Manny should both probably rate higher than Marv or Hop on p4p, but I'd rather be the clear and almost inarguable favorite of my division. Personally.
