  • Insider Information on Beterbeiv-Smith, For Pick'm Crew & Others

I'm just listing to some information on the fight here, and I thought I would share with fellow forum members some things that I have just learned about. It's buried within the video that I will link, but this is straight from Timothy Bradley's mouth.

    So first point is this:

At the fighter meeting, Beterbiev never showed up. He didn't want to have to answer any questions about Eddie Hearn's allegations or explain the "atypical" finding that VADA stated in its report. That tells me that he's pretty upset about the allegations. That could be terrible news for Callum Smith or it could be good news and Beterbiev fights in a way that Smith can take advantage. Personally, I think this is bad news for Smith. Beterbeiv is angry.

    Second point is this:

Callum Smith and Buddy McGirt's plan is not to box and stay on the outside. They are going to attack "fire with fire." They will be going at Beterbiev, trying to push him back. That sounds like a terrible plan in my opinion.

    Third point is this:

The ring is 18 x 18, which is the smallest allowable ring size you can have. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's as small as rings can be in a professional fight.) So Smith is going to have no where to really move around to. It's going to be a phone booth fight. Ultimately this means that Smith is going to be in the one place he doesn't want to be, which is up against the ropes. Smith is going to be on the ropes by the third or fourth round.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know what's going on, especially if you're betting on this fight. Personally, I might change my pick for a mid fight KO to an early KO for Beterbiev. Smith is literally going to be in front of Beterbiev all fight long and a good portion of that time will be on the ropes. IMO, it's over for Smith. He doesn't have a chance.

I'm indifferent about point 1. I think at this level of the game guys will lean more toward business/professionalism but you never really know what someone is feeling so they could sh^t the bed emotionally on any given night.

Point 2 could be legit, but could be misdirection, in theory, BUT in this case idk that Callum gots the stick n move & distance management skills to do anything else except try to take it to Beterbiev.

Point 3 is bad bad news for Callum. Callum could fight in a baseball infield size ring & somehow find himself on the ropes. And being on the ropes vs Beterbiev is unlikely to lead to good outcomes for Callum.

I feel like a Beterbiev mid rd stoppage is the most likely outcome here due to Beterbiev being a slow starter, but I could see this end much earlier with point 2 & 3 going against Callum imo.

Yeah. 100 percent. I'm with you. Mid round stoppage, but I'm debating about making it early. About point two, I think it's true because I heard Buddy talking about this on another interview earlier in the week. And the fact that they were saying this in the fighter meeting, which doesn't allow press inside, tells me that that's exactly what they are going to do. And honesty, in an 18x18 ring, it's his only option. He has barely any space to move around.

This is like a guaranteed Beterbiev win, IMO. The only chance Smith has is knocking Beterbiev out.

So true. Did you notice how quick Beterbiev was up on stage during the face-off? He turned really quickly to face Smith and then turned really quickly away, as if he's really pumped up. In fact, his movements were very energetic. Very fast. And judging by his response on social media, he's blaming Smith himself for the allegations. I think the Smith fans are going to be looking away from the TV tomorrow. Too painful to even watch.

I think we probably listened to the same interview cuz between that remark, Buddy saying Smith had only had a 6wk camp after this long layoff & being reminded that Buddy doesn't watch film in that same interview I came to the same conclusion you did.

Beterbiev is old af so any night might be his last night & that might be Saturday, but if its not I don't see a very wide path to victory for Smith.

                Ring size is interesting

Theres no reason vada would want to protect beterbiev. They actually wanna catch fighters. It makes them seem like theyre actually needed. So if they say levels were not indicative of cheating then theyre probably right.
Hearn is very hypocritical. He mainly cares about money and will retire once his cash cow joshua retires.

There are a lot of counter opportunities for smith vs beterbiev but after the first four does not seem like smith will have the same strength as beterbiev. When buddy says fight fire with fire i think he just means not shelling up on the ropes because if beterbiev starts landing hooks to the body and uppercuts to the head thats gonna cause a lot of damage and cause smith to slow down
