Comments Thread For: Hearn: People Talk About Big Fights In Saudi Arabia; We Ain't Gonna Get These Fights Without It

Eddie Hearn has heard and read some complaints from boxing fans and those that cover the sport about most of the "big fights" in recent months taking place in Saudi Arabia.

All those fights that he says that would not happen without the Saudis would had happened. The Saudis are overpaying and eventually that will run dry and spoiling fighters in making them think to hold off for some ridiculous Saudi offer. I don't think they even have to promote the fights so much because the amount of guarantee money that they are getting.

It is good that we getting big fights in a card but this is not the norm.

Shut up Hearn , you have very little say in these matters that are currently being run by Warren and his company Queensbury .The Saudi's are currently overpaying everyone as that's all they have ... .It's working at the moment that's why everyone is up the Turkey's arse, But how long this will last for is anyones guess , real fans want to be at the big fights and the big fights need the real fans , these events lack atmosphere and lets face it , they've also put some shyte on : Fat , obese Ruiz 2, Fury /Ngannou , Ngannou/Joshua ffs! . The only real grab to date out of this is Fury v Uysk . Hearn rightly thought Fury v Ngannou was a shyte match up but now thinks Ngannou v Joshua is a great fight ..this says it all about Hearn and this naff situation where these multimillionaire 'fighters' and multi millionaire promoters are having it off at our expense. Put on the very best available or don't bother 'the day of reckoning' was not , decent, but you would have had better matchups had they had been pulled of the hat.I go to the big fights MSG,. and London , I have no ambition to go to Saudi for any reason!

Of course these fights would be made. You may not have a day of reckoning but even that failed to have a truly big fight on the card. In fact I'm struggling to recall a really big fight that has actually happened and the fights announced for Fury-Usyk are less then encouraging. Apart from the Kovalev return.

When are Canelo, Crawford, Teo and Tank getting their Saudi shots?

Code for: The Sauds arent going to pay to stage fights anywhere but at home, so dont expect any more 'Big' fights anywhere else because promoters are too lazy, greedy and un cooperative towards each other to make them happen.

And also, that its much easier to make things happen without the gouge and grift of paying sanctioning fees to the alphabet orgs to manipulate rankings and turn mediocre fights and fighters into 'big' fights between supposed world beating champions who then hold the belts to ransom for years ducking and cherry picking opponents.

If that’s the case why did they ask Hearn what fight to put on when the Wilder one got derailed ? Hearn is exactly doing that which is running Saudi boxing even if Warren is fronting ,Warren has no real pull over there it’s DAZN/Hearn doing everything , after Fury vs Usyk he’ll have even less pull should Fury lose , Fury is the only reason Warren is even a factor it’s his only relationship with Riyadh Season so they let him out some guys on Joshua’s undercard .

You also said it’s run by Warren but blamed Hearn to why fights are not happening other places ,your all the over the place as usual which ,make it make sense .

Tank vs. Garcia, Spence vs. Crawford, Canelo vs. Charlo, all in the U.S.! If there's a will, there's a way!

As much as people are upset about Saudi taking over, would this happen so easily if major US / UK promoters did their job? We lost whole generations of mega fights due to ALL major promoters egos.

This is great for one reason - promoters wanting to marinade fights know they risk losing the initiative to Saudi. Before there were no consequences for mega fights like Mayweather/ Pacquiao or Wilder / Joshua etc being made and when they get made they are past sell by date anyway.

Also they are in essence acting as a mediator dictating what each party will get independently avoiding the petty negotiations killing fights.
