For the longest time the CW limit was at 190lbs. The CW division was started in the 1970's because it was decided that it was unfair for a 176lb man to have to compete with a 230lb man thus a division was created between LHW & HW. This division had a 190lb limit but for some reason was changed a few years ago I don't know why if anyone does please edumacate me here.
Still, regardless of why it was changed probably because 200 is a nice round number I think 190 is a better limit. Currently there is a 25lb disparity between LHW & CW, in my view this is too much and the 15lb difference was just fine when the limit was 190.
Suppose someone walks around at 195 and can physically afford to cut 20lbs to make the LHW limit, now they have to compete at CW where some fighters cut 15lbs to make 200 and blow back up to 215 over night. Now that 195lb fighter has to fight a man naturally 20lbs heavier than him, doesn't seem fair to me, physical fairness was the whole idea behind the creation of the CW division in the first place.
You may say being "Spray that is all fine and Dandy but then we will have much smaller HWs in the HW division". True, but that is another issue for another thread I want to make later this week. We can have that debate later on so save it for that thread, I can't figure everything out all at once. So does anyone think the CW division was better at 190lbs? Comment and discuss.
