my parents abused my sister and I.

i left home when I was 16. crashing at a female friend's condo for 2 years.

my sister couldn't leave. she went insane by 20. sad tbh. parents ruined the life of their own child.

I have 2 kids now. I don't even discipline them because I remind myself of my dad whenever i spank. it hurts me. abuse doesn't have to perpetuate tbh
Damn that sucks bro, sorry to read that but glad you're breaking the cycle. My dad was/is an alcoholic and I used to watch him drink every single day, I don't drink anything alcoholic at all because I don't want my son growing up seeing that plus I don't need or want it. Breaking cycles is important you know, you gotta do better

Damn man , I'm really sorry that y'all had to suffer through that. I'm glad that you are wise enough to break the cycle. Best of luck to you.

Jr gets a lot of hate but I bet this is true... I think Sr did abuse Jr and his mom... that's just the mindset of old heads...

It's a horrible situation, which is all too common in boxing. However, it is to be expected in a sport, which appeals most to the underprivileged. Furthermore, the effects of CTE definitely attribute to boxers developing unstable personalities, which likely compound's issues.

Such a shame, can’t ever beat a woman I don’t stand for that, if it’s true then Señor is trash. Regardless, Jr shouldn’t be taalking about his father in that manner anyway, jr trash for that too. As far as the domestic violence victim, it’s sad she went through that but no one is forcing her to be with senior, she’s an adult and could leave at any point too if that is what was best for herself and her kids. Can’t leave that money though, bet you that’s the reason she ain’t leaving and puts up with that sh.it if it still happens. Hope not

That’s sad but true, I’ll give senior his credit as a fighter, but as a man he ain’t sh.it

Lots of pain in this world. To our members who’ve experienced abuse at the hands of their parents: I feel for you, brothers. But I’m proud of you that the abuse ended with you. God be with you always.

As for Junior: No way to know if any of his accusations are true. My guess is that he’s being genuine. Takes a real psycho to make such false claims. Then again, they’re definitely out there.

Discipline comes from love. It doesn't involve beatings or spankings or name calling. It involves teaching a kid with love and letting the kid make mistakes and teaching when they do. Beating and abusing and name calling isnt discipline, it is all about the person doing the abusing making themselves feel better by abusing.

Vicious cycle. Chavez Sr's. own father probably beat him up. And maybe Jr is overselling it and not being totally honest, but the kid has major issue and uses drugs to cope. He is likely not making it up, knowing the accusations from his mom as well.

They all need therapy from the sound of it.
