If David Diaz wins a lightweight strap again.

Does that bring legitimacy to his previous title reign and his label as the weakest of the lightweight champs at the time he lost his previous belt??

No it don't. Diaz was a paper champ. Don't mean he ain't a tough fighter wit heart. But it is what it is. He was the weakest LW titlist at the time.

It's the man that makes the belt, not vice versa. If he beats Diaz, good win, but he'd need to get a solid defense under his belt against a credible challenger to get respect for his title reign. Juan Diaz' stock has dropped homey.

Well assuming the belt he wins is not vacant against an actual defending champion. then what??

Yes Juan Diaz's stock has dropped but it's not like he's damaged goods or past prime. Remember David Diaz's primary comparison before was Juan Diaz.

i think david diaz is very underrated.

he had a solid amateur background and is a solid pro.

it's not like he beat some scrub for his interim belt.

he beat santa cruz who was a top 10 fighter at the time.

his only losses are to manny pacquiao and kendall holt at 140. not too bad imo.
