Comments Thread For: Barboza On Signing With Golden Boy: I Needed A Promoter Who Is Going To Be Behind Me All The Way

Arnold Barboza Jr. is pleased with the end result to an otherwise forgettable 2023 campaign. The unbeaten junior welterweight contender is confident that he is exactly where he belongs as part of the Golden Boy Promotions family. The Oscar De La Hoya-headed outfit is based out of his Los Angeles hometown, one of several factors that made it a no-brainer to sign with them in November.

Barboza is due a shot and has not secured it. He is one of those fighters that is high risk low reward.

The only Championship fight I see Barboza getting is with Matias.

I'm pretty sure he is the #1 contender in the wbo so he will be getting a shot one way or another. Not sure if he will have to fight and eliminator first.

Barboza is a solid but not sensational fighter. He will have to become a mandatory in order to get a shot at a belt because he's considered high risk and low reward. At one point he was discussed as an opponent for Teofimo but that never materialized, it seemed like he was languishing a bit with Top Rank.

Top Rank wanted him to fight Teofimo. But the Lopez have other plans. My honest assessment is that he could beat Teofimo in a tough fight. . He is still number 1 in the WBO.

The Pedraza win should have earned this man a title shot. Bob needs to stop sitting on fighters like him.
