I think he is right, Look at what James did to Joshua - very simple going in and out in straight lines. Got hit much more than normal against Franklin and Helenius. AJ did much better when boxing like himself again with Davison.
James made his name off Spence. His style worked for Spence but not necessarily with other fighters with different physical attributes. I see him like Andre's Ward's trainer. Worked great for Ward but for other fighters - not so much. I think these trainers try to force a style on a boxer who would be better off sticking to their own way of boxing.
Reminds me of Roy Jones training Eubank. Was a disaster.... Only Jones can fight that way. Eubank was a cheap copy. Soon as he dumped Jones and changed back to his old style he destroyed the guy who beat himComment

Derrick James went from being Trainer of the Year to now being overrated. It’s a tough business.Comment

Eubank Jr dumped Roy but didn’t go back to his old style, he hooked up with Bomac.I think he is right, Look at what James did to Joshua - very simple going in and out in straight lines. I remember going on DJ's website and thinking it was strange he called himself a "coach" and not a "trainer"
Then after watching him telling Browne, Spence, Charlo to keep doing what they were doing while they were getting ****kicked it all made sense.Comment

Ah, so it’s not just about whether you beat someone for a belt. That’s called moving the goalposts, brother.
So by your logic, when the ref jumped in and stopped Brook who had won every round against Crawford up to that point, and didn’t let Brook throw back, we should just disregard that win. Right?Comment
