Who the fook is "New Champions Promotion"?

Is this one of those sketchy deals where some folks helped Andy get outta Cuba IF he signed to their or their peoples promption who don't actually promote & were just gonna get 33% of his money when they aligned him with a legit promoter, in this case Eddie?

Sounds like they did a co-promotional deal with Matchroom, which would have been fine. Happens all the time. Problem for them is that a "promoter" is not permitted to take percentages of a fighters purse, only a manager is allowed to do that. And if the allegation that they were not a licensed manager is correct, then this will be a slam dunk for Cruz. It also creates a problem for Matchroom because if these NCP clowns are not licensed promoters either, then the CA commission could potentially kill the Matchroom contract as well, and then Matchroom would have to do a new deal with Cruz.......

The funny part of the story was where it said that acting as a promoter and manager at the same time is a violation of the Ali Act. Well that hasn't stopped Haymon from doing that exact thing for the last 8 or 9 years. But nobody cares lol

Why would one have a promoter and a co- promoter? That seems like too many hands in the pot.

Didn't Arum take a cut from Lopez when he lost to kambosos on dazn?

And for the second paragraph didn't Kathy duva and Arum sue haymon for violating the Ali act yet all Kathy did was exposed his slave contracts and Arum forced him to work with him?

Can we quit bringing up this Al is a manager & promoter bs all the time still lol. A manager can put together a fight card. A promoter can be outsourced to do specific fight card duties. I believe Tito Mercado Jr is doing this now with his dad, Tito Sr, managing him while outsourcing promotional duties thru his company Fight City. SRL had his management do similar back in the day I believe. The only difference between that & this Al thing is Al scaled it up beyond one boxer. Its the same thing tho.

That nitpicking aside lol after how good Andy looked in his last fight it'd probably be +EV to be in a position to get his present deal killed & have Eddie present a new offer or even go to the highest bidder as there might be renewed interest for him. It'd be great if he could get that lucky, but with boxing being boxing I'd bet against things being that clean.

One promoter isn't a real promoter that just have the boxer under contract. I believe Rigo got fooked like this for a long time too. His promoter had him locked up & just "leased" him out. Depending on the contract you supposedly can get a nice cut of the purse doing that with no risk for the promoter.

Sometimes it can be more legit/less problematic when a small promoter just can't do anything for you anymore so doing a co-promotional with a promoter with a tv deal is gonna be better for the fighter & better for the original promoter at making more money off of the boxer while they still have him under their deal.

Definitely too many hands in the pot. I believe Kovalev had 3 or maybe more co-promotional deals at one point. I think he was getting massively screwed over with so much of his purses being taken.

That's probably the case. A fake promoter who never staged a boxing card and never will. Reminiscent of caribe promotions with Rigondeaux. Anyone can get a promoter license apparently. It's not too far away from human trafficking.

They already botched a deal with Top Rank, which would have been the best promoter for Cruz to get fast-tracked to a title. Brad Goodman said they tried to sign Cruz, then Matchroom came in and sealed the deal. The NPC crooks obviously went for who offered the most money so they could put most of it in their pocket.
