Fights during covid times had more atmosphere than the Saudi events do. You could hear a pin drop. You could hear people on the rooftops shouting.
This is affecting fighters who have never fought in Saudi before. Fighters like Fury and wilder are those that feed off the energy of the crowd, they were probably in shock just how quiet it was, almost like they weren’t even at a fight.
It also negatively affects my viewing experience too. I wanna hear the energy of the crowd, hear the roar from the crowd, especially when it’s such a big fight. Imagine great fights of the past, Ali vs Frazier, hagler vs hearns, wilder vs fury 3, watching the fights back listening to the roar from the crowd gives you those goosebumps, makes the hairs stand up.
At the Qatar Football World Cup, they paid supporters to make noise in the crowds, they should do the same in these Saudi events.
