It's a (hand) wrap: Antonio Margarito returns in February

    http://www.examiner.com/x-5699-NY-Bo...ns-in-February

Antonio Margarito, caught cheating with his loaded handwraps before he fought and lost to Sugar Shane Mosley Jan. 24 in Los Angeles, is not doing any California dreaming.

Accroding to his promoter, Bob Arum, the Tijuana Tornado will be able to return to the ring in virtually any other state come February.

The way Arum tells it, the one-year California commission expires in January 2010 and Margarito has no plans to go hat in hand before that board seeking to be relicensed.

“The ABC (Association of Boxing Commissions) has said he is free to apply for a license anywhere outside of California when the suspension ends,” Arum said Wednesday. “So that is what he will do.”

Margarito—or “Margocheato” as he’s become known—looms as a wild card in Arum;s Top Rank promotional deck.

“He could be an opponent for Manny Pacquiao, that’s possible, but he also has a natural rematch against Miguel Cotto,” Arum said.

Arum revealed that Cotto, who fights Pacman Nov. 14, is still burning about how his trainer and uncle Evangelista Cotto and cutman Miguel Diaz neglected to carefully watch Margarito getting his hands wrapped before their bout in Las Vegas.

Cotto later fired both his uncle and Diaz and is now trained by the less experienced Jose Santiago.

“Miguel has every right to be mad and to fire them,” Arum said. “They didn’t do what they were supposed to do.”

Arum, fresh from visiting the Pacman training camp in Baguio, will visit the Cotto camp in Tampa Tuesday and Wednesday.

If Cotto beats Pac, Mr boat buyer ain't fightin him unless he really needs the $. Cotto can win in Nov and get rematches wit SSM and Marg next yr, assumin Marg returns at WW instead of JMW.

Margs will go to welter to fight cotto again.. Im positive about that.. After the shadow of doubt that he cast upon himself he will want a rematch.. i just wonder who gets more of the split.. ?

Boy, Arum plays both sides of the fence with Margarito.

One minute, he talks about how Margarito should not have been suspended and how the supension would be overturned because he (somehow) didn't know about what his trainer did...

...and the next minute he's lauding Cotto for firing his trainer and cutman for not catching Margarito cheating. Also, Top Rank is pumping up Cotto as a quasi-undefeated fighter b/c of his now "controversial" loss.

                lol. Typical Arum.

Marg will be in no position to demand ****. He'll be lucky if Cotto or any other name fighter is willin to go near him after the **** he tried to pull in January. Even if it's 90-10, Marg better accept and fight the rematch if he wants to try redeemin himself.

I wonder if Mayweather has considered fighting Margarito and whether people still would want to see that
