Comments Thread For: Ryan Garcia: I Want To Get Back By March Or April, Inactivity Really Crushed Me

Ryan Garcia has spent most of the past year learning from his mistakes. How far he will advance under the tutelage of head trainer Derrick James remains to be seen, though their relationship jumped off to a positive start. Garcia won his first fight with the 2022 Trainer of the Year in his corner when he knocked out Mexico's Oscar Duarte in the eighth round of their December 2 DAZN headliner from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

I think it was Davison who crushed you .Garcia is another Diva of boxing full of social media views and not a lot more.I hope he proves me wrong with his obvious talent.

I hope this starts a trend and more top fighters start fighting more than once a year.

This dude.. Oscar repeatedly told this guy too take the tune up fight against Gesta in January, Ryan big mouth refused to take the fight, as Tank listened to what was being told to him and took a fight against a 130 pounder in DC to start the year sharp..

Now this fool wants to talk about inactivity crushed him, it never ends. Blame yourself fool, you’re the issue, and he still doesn’t listen.

“Tank has always wanted to do things that are going to make him as comfortable as he could be and as ready as he could be going into a fight. I didn't need to tune up and I don't need to tune up. I want to put on the biggest fights for the fans. So I've decided that I'm done f------ around. I'm ready to go right after Tank.”

“I'm just used to [long layoffs] at this point,” says Garcia. “A lot of my fights have come off layoffs. [Luke] Campbell, that came after about a year off. As long as I'm staying in the gym right now, I'm good. I already feel in amazing shape. So I pretty much am now just focused on preparing my body and my mind as best as I can for that fight with Tank.”

no wonder him and oscar cant get on, neither of them can remember what they last said to each other most likely

Yup, people hate on Oscar but the guy does know boxing. He should have taken his advice. It feels like Garcia just thought he could fast twitch anyone and blow them out.

Here’s something else I noticed in the Duarte fight: Garcia’s power is still there, but it’s not fully translating to 140. A lot of those punches didn’t hurt Duarte and they would have hurt a 135 lber. I don’t think this move up in weight was a good move at all. I think being disciplined and staying out of the nightclubs to make 135 more easily would have been the answer.

Garcia is ranked in the WBC/WBA/IBF, so he has many to choose from: Barboza, Catterall, Davies, Delgado, Hitchins, Martin, Ramirez, Russell, etc.

Yeah, maybe you can get back to fighting. Building yourself up again and staying busy. Not turning every fight into a "must" watch when it really isn't a must watch.

Honestly, Jake Paul fought this past Friday and I don't think hardly anyone knew about it. Granted, it wasn't anything too special, but he did fight a boxer. I'd like him to also go into the shadows and take fights and build himself up more. When these guys treat every matchup like it's the most significant fight of their career, losing makes it that much worse and winning against Joe Blow doesn't do much for your reputation, but at least builds up your experience.
